First you need to determine how many DPI (dots per inch) will be used when the file is being printed. To keep it simple, lets say the printer output resolution will be 200 DPI. If your image file size is 2,000 X 1,600 you will be able to get a quality print size up to about 10 X 8.
Jul 03, 2017 · A high DPI mouse can also be paired with a low sensitivity setting, so the cursor won’t fly across the screen when you move it but the movement will stay smooth. High DPI mice are more useful if you have a higher-resolution monitor. If you’re playing a game on a low-resolution 1366×768 laptop screen, you don’t necessarily need that high DPI.

DPI is never a measurement for precision. DPI only raises (for example 800 to 1600 DPI -> Mousesense 1 will be as fast as 2) . But some mice had the problem that if you use a too high dpi their precision will suffer because of low quality sensor. So like Vie said: Use the native DPI value and take the sense you are comfortable with,
